"Commander Vance." The general's voice filled the room like a verdict.

Harrison's arm dropped slowly.

this isn't what it looks like," he said.

The woman in the dark suit didn't blink.

"We have the fabricated psychiatric order, Commander.

We have the unauthorized breach request.

And we have five years of financial records your mother signed under a clearance she was never entitled to hold."

Harrison turned to look at me.

For the first time in our entire marriage, he had nothing to say.

But it was the handler — the man who was supposed to be d3ad — who spoke last.

"She didn't start this war, Harrison." He set the folder on my desk.

"She just made sure you'd lose it."

The tactical team behind Harrison took one step back.
