Chapter 8 – The Devil's Bargain
Victor stepped out from behind the shipping container, his hands raised in the air.
Chloe stayed hidden in the shadows, gripping the heavy tire iron with sweaty palms.
Isabella laughed a sharp, manic laugh as she looked at the man who had rejected her.
She tossed the legal contract onto a wooden crate in front of Victor.
She told him that the document transferred all of his assets, territories, and businesses directly into her name.
If he signed it and married her immediately, she would let the little sister live.
If he refused, she would shoot Lily and hunt Chloe down like a dog.
Victor looked at Marcus, his oldest friend, with profound disappointment.
He walked slowly toward the crate, pulling a silver pen from his jacket pocket.
He did not hesitate for a single second.
Victor signed away a billion-dollar empire just to save the family of a maid he had known for a month.
Isabella snatched the paper back with a triumphant, greedy smile.
She turned to Marcus and casually ordered him to kill the hostages anyway.
Marcus raised his rifle, aiming it directly at Victor's chest.
Before Marcus could pull the trigger, Chloe screamed and hurled the tire iron with all her might.
The heavy metal bar struck Marcus perfectly in the back of the knee, making his leg buckle violently.
His rifle fired into the ceiling, creating a split second of absolute chaos.
Victor lunged forward, grabbing the barrel of the rifle and twisting it out of the traitor's hands.
He struck Marcus in the jaw with the butt of the weapon, knocking the massive guard unconscious.
Isabella shrieked in anger and aimed her pistol at Victor's back.
Victor spun around faster than lightning and fired a single shot from his own concealed weapon.
The bullet struck the gun right out of Isabella's hand, shattering her fingers.
She dropped to her knees, screaming in agony as her entire coup collapsed in seconds.
Victor walked over to Lily and quickly untied the heavy ropes binding her to the chair.
Chloe rushed forward, pulling her sobbing sister into a desperate, crushing hug.

As they embraced, Victor suddenly coughed and stumbled backward against the wooden crate.
He looked down, pulling his hand away from his stomach to reveal a massive amount of dark red blood.
